More Benguet senior citizens succumb to Covid-19

MORE elderly persons in Benguet province have succumbed to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), said Dr. Meliarazon Dulay, Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) chief, on Tuesday, October 13.

The Provincial Government said that the eighth Covid-19-related death in Benguet was recorded on Monday, October 12, and involved a 75-year-old from La Trinidad.

Another patient who died from Covid-19 was a 62-year-old from La Trinidad who died over the weekend. The patient had community acquired pneumonia when he tested positive for coronavirus.

An 84-year-old male from La Trinidad who was admitted to the BeGH last September 29 also died.

In September, Benguet recorded its fourth Covid-related death. The patient was from La Trinidad who had critical multi-organ failure.

The fifth death involved a 70-year-old male from Pico, La Trinidad who was diabetic and hypertensive.

Benguet recorded its first Covid-19 death in August with a 58-year-old male from Itogon town who also had underlying illness.

The second fatality was a male senior citizen who was referred to BeGH for further observation and treatment.

As of October 12, there were 158 active Covid-19 cases in the province, while 297 have recovered.

The total confirmed cases stood at 463.
