THE Department of Agriculture (DA) in Zamboanga Peninsula has conducted a two-day mobile registration and licensing of feeds establishments in various municipalities in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.
Dr. Marie France Que–Jalao, DA-Zamboanga Peninsula regulatory division chief, said the mobile registration, which was held from Monday, October 12, until Wednesday, October 14, is aimed to avoid the surge and volume of applications that the regional office receives during the start of the year.
“This early renewal activity will ensure that the operations of the feed establishments will be continuous and will not be hampered by the late renewal of registrations. For the retail of feeds, we only need the mayor’s or business permits as basic requirements,” Jalao said.
Jalao said the mobile registration shall continue in the following week specifically in far-flung areas in the region to make services available directly to the people in this time of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
She said the registration at the DA offices across the region is also open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow time for following the health protocols at the workplace.
She said the deadline for renewal of registrations is on January 21, 2021, and failure to renew will subject applications to the imposition of surcharges.
The registration of feeds’ establishments is mandatory under the Republic Act (RA) 1556, otherwise known as the Livestock and Poultry Feed Act, and is also in relation to the decree in RA 10611 or the Food Safety Act of 2013. (SunStar Zamboanga)
