Barmm releases 4-month salary of newly hired teachers

THE Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MBHTE-Barmm) has started to release the June to September salaries of 1,104 newly hired teachers from Maguindanao I and II Divisions.

MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said the first batch, consisting of 538 newly hired teachers from Maguindanao I Division, received their salaries from October 14 until October 16.

Iqbal said the salary of the remaining 566 newly hired teachers from Maguindanao II Division will be released from October 19 to 21.

The MBHTE has also provided additional cash allowance amounting to P4,000 to each of the newly hired teachers.

Iqbal said the release of salaries were delayed due to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that the mandatory working arrangement in the ministry, as a response to contain the virus, caused a slow progress in the release of the salaries.

Iqbal said they are expecting to hire around 3,000 teachers from the other provinces in order to maximize the teaching force of the education ministry.

He said they have already started the hiring of new teachers for the island provinces of Tawi-Tawi and Basilan, to be followed by Sulu and Lanao del Sur. (SunStar Zamboanga)
