3 more healthcare workers in Oro infected

THREE more healthcare workers have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 in Cagayan de Oro, bringing the total number of coronavirus-positive frontliners in the city to 81.

Of the 81 healthcare workers, 23 are doctors, 38 are nurses and the rest are nursing attendants, pharmacists, dental, administrative, radio technologists, midwives, and ward personnel from Northern Mindanao Center (NMMC), JR Borja General Hospital, and other private hospitals in the city.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said the three coronavirus-positive healthcare workers were among the 17 new Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro. They were tagged as the 1,126th, 1,127th, and 1,130th cases.

The 1,126th case is a 47-year-old female healthcare worker of the NMMC who is residing in Barangay 18. She was assigned at the Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease (Ereid) ward in the said hospital. Her last day of duty was on October 3.

The woman was swabbed on October 7 and the result came out positive on October 12. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 1,127th case is a 23-year-old female residing in Barangay 40. She is a nurse in a private hospital. Her last day of duty was on October 7. She had a fever on October 8 and underwent check-up in the private hospital on October 9.

The woman was swabbed in the said hospital and the result came out positive on October 13. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified three direct contacts of the woman.

The 1,130th case is a 42-year-old male local Apor residing in a gated community in Barangay Balulang. He works as a doctor in JR Borja General Hospital. He traveled to Claveria on October 10 and was on duty at the JR Borja General Hospital on the evening of the same day. He was off duty on October 12 and had flu-like symptoms.

The man was swabbed on October 12 and the result came out positive on October 13. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified four direct contacts of the man.

As of October 14, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro City is now at 1,139. The city has 359 active cases, 30 of whom are admitted at the NMMC, 320 are outpatients, and nine are ROFs/LSIs.

The city also registered seven new recovered Covid-positive patients, bringing the total number of recoveries to 729. The number of deaths is now at 51.
