A RETICULATED python is now under the care of the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Baclay village, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

Rosevirico Tan, DENR regional information officer, said the reticulated python was turned over by Niño Ranes of Balangasan village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro) on Wednesday, October 14.

Tan said Ranes found the python crawling out of the man-hole near a Sta. Lucia village, Pagadian City, during a heavy downpour and flooding in the area.

Tan said Ranes, together with Eduardo Capino, rescued the snake barehanded and put it inside a sack.

He said the 3.8-meter long snake, which weighed around 12 kilos, was turned over by them to Penro in Zamboanga del Sur.

He said the rescued snake is placed under the care of Wildlife Rescue Center and will soon be released back to the wild. (SunStar Zamboanga)
