Cagayan de Oro logs highest single-day Covid-19 spike of 45

CAGAYAN de Oro City logged its highest single-day spike in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) with 45 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 1,184.

Of the 45 new cases, 40 are local cases, four are retagged cases and one returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF). Of the aforementioned local cases, 16 are close contacts of previously confirmed cases and eight are authorized persons outside residence (Apors), acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said.

The profiles of the new Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro City are the following:

1,140th case: a 48-year-old ROF and a resident of Barangay Cugman. He arrived at the Clark International Airport on October 4. He arrived via plane in Cagayan de Oro on October 6.

1,141st case: an 86-year-old female resident of Barangay Bugo, who was exposed to the 908th case. She is the grandmother of the 908th case. Her last day of exposure was on October 3 and was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified two close contacts of the woman.

1,142nd case: a 59-year-old male resident of Barangay Bugo, who was exposed to the 908th case. He is the father of the 908th case. His last day of exposure was on October 3 and he was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,143rd case: a 45-year-old female, who was exposed to the 920th case. She is the mother of the 920th case. She had a fever and cough on September 28. Her last day of exposure was on October 9. She was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified four close contacts of the woman.

1,144th case: a 72-year-old female, who was exposed to the 920th case. She is the grandmother of the 920th case. Her last day of exposure was on October 9. She was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified four close contacts of the woman.

1,145th case: a 75-year-old male resident of Barangay Bulua, who was exposed to the 920th case. He is the grandfather of the 920th case. His last day of exposure was on October 9. He was brought to the city isolation unit on October 9. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,146th case: a 43-year-old male resident of Barangay Bugo, who was exposed to his wife, the 1,1025th case. His last day of exposure was on October 6. He underwent home quarantine from October 7 to 11 and was brought to the city isolation unit on October 12. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,147th case: a 12-year-old male resident of Barangay Bugo, who was exposed to his mother, the 1,1025th case. His last day of exposure was on October 6. He underwent home quarantine from October 7 to 11 and was brought to the city isolation unit on October 12. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,148th case: a 58-year-old female resident of Barangay Pagatpat, who was exposed to the 917th case. She is the mother of the 917th case. Her last day of exposure was on October 5. She underwent home quarantine from October 6 to 10 and was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,150th case: a six-year-old female resident of Barangay 2, who was exposed to the 1,001st case. She is the daughter of the 1,001st case. Her last day of exposure was on October 5. She underwent home quarantine from October 6 to 12 and was brought to the city isolation unit on October 12. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified four direct contacts of the girl.

1,151st case: a 31-year-old male local Apor residing in Barangay Balulang, who was exposed to a confirmed case in Salay, Misamis Oriental. He is a member of the Bureau of Fire Protection. His last day of exposure was on September 27. He went back to Cagayan de Oro from Salay on October 4 and was back to work on October 12. He underwent a rapid diagnostic test and the result was negative. However, his swab test result came out positive on October 14. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,152nd case: a 13-year-old female resident of Barangay Bonbon, who was exposed to the 978th case. She is the daughter of the 978th case. Her last day of exposure was on October 7. She was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11.

1,153rd case: a 21-year-old male resident of Barangay Bonbon, who was exposed to the 978th case. He is the son of the 978th case. His last day of exposure was on October 7. He was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11.

1,154th case: a 10-year-old male resident of Barangay Bonbon, who was exposed to the 978th case. He is the son of the 978th case. His last day of exposure was on October 7. He was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,155th case: a 50-year-old female resident of Barangay Bonbon, who was exposed to her husband, the 978th case. Her last day of exposure was on October 7. She had a cough on the same day. She was brought to the city isolation unit on October 11. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,156th case: a 79-year-old male resident of Barangy Carmen. He had a fever on September 29. He went to a private hospital for consultation on October 10. He was swabbed and tested positive on October 13. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,157th case: a 31-year-old male local Apor residing in Barangay Patag. He is a nurse from the JR Borja General Hospital who was assigned at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility. She experienced flu-like symptoms on October 12. She was swabbed at the JR Borja General Hospital and the result came out positive on October 14. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,158th case: a 38-year-old male local Apor residing in Barangay Macasandig. He attended training from September 10 to October 7 in a training center in Barangay Patag. He had body malaise on October 7 and experienced loss of sense of smell on October 11. He was swabbed at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on October 12 and the result came out positive on October 13. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified seven direct contacts of the man.

1,159th case: a 74-year-old female resident of Barangay Puntod. She went to the NMMC from October 6 to 12 to follow up on her cataract surgery. She was swabbed and admitted to the said hospital.

1,160th case: a 61-year-old male resident of Barangay Nazareth. He experienced shortness of breath on October 10. He was admitted to the NMMC on October 13. He was swabbed on October 14 and the result came out positive.

1,161st case: a 31-year-old male, who was exposed to his co-worker, the 1,116th case. He is a healthcare worker at the NMMC. His last day of exposure was on October 7. He was swabbed at the NMMC and the result was positive.

1,162nd case: a 30-year-old male local Apor, who was exposed to his co-worker, the 1,116th case. He is a healthcare worker at the NMMC. His last day of exposure was on October 7. He had complaints on October 12. His last day of duty was on October 14. He was transferred to the DOH isolation facility on October 15.

1,163rd case: a 26-year-old male resident of Barangay Canitoan. He was exposed to his mother, the 1,164th case. His last day of exposure was on October 9. He underwent home quarantine on October 10.

1,164th case: a 53-year-old female local Apor residing in Barangay Canitoan. She is a healthcare worker, a nurse, at the NMMC. Her comorbidities include hypertension and asthma. She had a cough on October 7 and fever on October 9.

1,165th case: a 41-year-old male local Apor, who was exposed to his co-workers, the 1,116th and 1,115th cases. His last day of exposure was on October 7. He is currently isolated at the DOH isolation facility.

1,166th case: a 52-year-old female local Apor, a healthcare worker at the NMMC, who was exposed to her co-workers, the 1,116th and 1,115th cases. Her last day of exposure was on October 12. She was isolated at the DOH isolation facility on October 15.

1,167th case: a 25-year-old female resident of Barangay Carmen. She had a sore throat and fever on October 9. Her last day of duty was on October 13. She was swabbed at the NMMC on October 14 and tested positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,168th case: a 69-year-old male resident of Barangay Bugo. He had a fever on October 7 and cough on October 10. He was swabbed and tested positive. However, he died on October 13 and his remains were cremated on the same day.

The City Health Office identified two close contacts of the man.

1,169th case: a 67-year-old female resident of Barangay Kauswagan. She was admitted at the JR Borja General Hospital on September 19 and was transferred to the NMMC. She was swabbed and the result came out negative on September 22. She was discharged from the said hospital on September 23. She went back to the NMMC and was admitted on October 5 due to an asthma attack. She was swabbed and tested positive.

The City Health Office identified three close contacts of the woman.

1,170th case: a 73-year-old female resident of a gated community in Barangay Balulang. She had a cough on September 26. She traveled to Lanao del Sur together with her family on October 13. She was swabbed at Amai Pakpak Medical Center and the result was positive.

The City Health Office identified three close contacts of the woman, all of them tested positive for Covid-19.

1,171st case: an 81-year-old male resident of Barangay Balulang. He traveled to Lanao del Sur with his family on October 13. He was swabbed at Amai Pakpak Medical Center and tested positive.

1,172nd case: a 67-year-old male resident of Barangay Nazareth. He traveled to Lanao del Sur on October 13. He was swabbed at Amai Pakpak Medical Center and the result was positive.

1,173rd case: a 59-year-old female resident of Barangay Nazareth. She had a cough on September 26 and was isolated in her home in the said barangay. She traveled to Lanao del Sur on October 13. She was swabbed at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center and the result was positive.

1,174th case: a 50-year-old female local Apor, who works in a private hospital. She has chronic kidney disease and her dialysis was scheduled on October 3. She had body weakness and shortness of breath on October 9.

The City Health Office identified seven direct contacts of the woman.

1,175th case: a 39-year-old female resident of Barangay Lapasan, who was exposed to her co-worker, the 876th case. Her last day of exposure was on September 26. She had a cough on October 2 and difficulty in breathing on October 3. She had a fever on October 5 and went to NMMC for consultation on October 9. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified eight close contacts of the woman.

1,176th case: a 74-year-old male resident of Barangay Lapasan. He had a fever, cough and shortness of breath on October 6 and went to a private hospital for consultation on October 11. She is set to be transferred to the NMMC.

1,177th case: a 38-year-old male resident of Barangay Kauswagan. He had a sore throat on October 6, headache on October 9 and fever on October 12. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified three direct contacts of the man.

1,178th case: a 52-year-old female resident of Barangay Macasandig. She attended a gathering, a birthday party of her co-worker, on October 7 in Barangay Iponan. She had a fever on October 13 and was admitted to a private hospital.

The City Health Office identified three direct contacts of the woman.

1,179th case: a 78-year-old female resident of Barangay 30. She had a fever and colds and went to a private hospital to get her medicine for her comorbidities, diabetes mellitus and hypertension. She had fever and body malaise on October 11. She went to a private hospital for consultation on October 12 and was transferred to another hospital on October 13.

The woman died on October 13 and her remains were cremated on the same day. The City Health Office identified one direct contact.

1,180th case: a 25-year-old female resident of Barangay 27. She had colds, cough, loss of sense of taste and shortness of breath on October 1. Her last day of duty was on October 11.

The City Health Office identified nine direct contacts of the woman.

1,181st case: a 33-year-old male local Apor residing in Barangay Lapasan. He works as a technician in a dialysis center. He has a headache on October 5 and fever and cough on October 9. He underwent a rapid diagnostic test and the result was positive. He underwent home quarantine on October 13. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified three direct contacts of the man.

1,182nd case: a 43-year-old male resident of Barangay Patag. His last day of duty was on October 13. On the same day, he experienced loss of sense of smell and taste. He had a sore throat on October 14. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,183rd case: a 48-year-old male resident of Barangay Bayabas. He had a cough on October 8. His last day of duty was on the same day. He was admitted to a private hospital on October 13. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified two direct contacts of the man.

1,184th case: a 66-year-old male resident of Barangay Kauswagan. He was admitted to a private hospital on October 6 due to mild stroke. He underwent a rapid diagnostic test and the result came out negative. He was discharged from the hospital on October 9, however, he had a cough. He went back to the hospital on October 11. He is set to be transferred either to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility or the NMMC.

Cagayan de Oro has 389 active cases, 29 of whom are admitted to the NMMC, 350 are outpatients and 10 are ROFs/LSIs.

The total number of recoveries in the city is now at 742 and deaths are at 53.
