Bontoc village halts entry of LSIs

THE Municipality of Bontoc in Mountain Province recently stopped the entry of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) coming from the National Capital Region (NCR) to one of its barangays.

In a memorandum order, Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey said the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) was informed of the continuous influx of LSIs from NCR and other places going home to Barangay Bayyo of Bontoc since Mountain Province was placed under modified general community quarantine.

Odsey reiterated the number of LSIs going to the barangay outnumbers the limited number of health personnel in the Municipal Health Office and Barangay Health Workers monitoring the LSIs.

The mayor added there is a limited number of quarantine facilities identified by the barangay where LSIs must undergo the 14-day quarantine.

LSIs, added Odsey, must do such especially that they are coming from areas with a high number of cases of coronavirus infections.

The mayor, as the head of MIATF, ordered the temporary suspension of the entry of LSIs from October 16 until further notice.

Odsey also directed barangay officials of Bayyo to strictly implement the order.

As of Monday evening, October 19, 2020, Bontoc has 10 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with one active and nine recoveries. (SunStar Baguio)
