12 more Oro jail inmates test positive for coronavirus, total at 53

TWELVE persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in Cagayan de Oro City Jail have tested positive for coronavirus, City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Monday, October 19.

This brought the total number of Covid-positive inmates in the city to 53.

According to Retuya, of the 53 inmates, 47 are male and six are females. One female PDL has since recovered.

The 12 Covid-positive PDLs were among the 41 new cases recorded over the weekend.

The profiles of the Covid-19 positive inmates are the following:

1,226th case: a 58-year-old male PDL from Barangay Camaman-an. He was detained at the Police Station 4 on September 11 and was transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) holding area in Barangay Lumbia on October 3. He was swabbed on October 1 and tested negative. He was swabbed again on October 11 and the result came out positive.

1,227th case: a 36-year-old male PDL from Barangay Iponan. He was detained at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on September 9 and was transferred to the BJMP holding area on September 16. He was swabbed on October 1 and tested negative. He was swabbed again on October 11 and the result came out positive. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,228th case: a 57-year-old male PDL from Barangay Kauswagan. He was detained at the Police Station 4 on September 9 and was transferred to the BJMP holding area on September 15. He was swabbed on October 1 and tested negative. He was swabbed again on October 11 and the result came out positive. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,229th case: a 32-year-old male PDL from Barangay Cugman. He was detained at the PDEA on August 16 and was transferred to the BJMP holding area on August 14. He became a jail trustee on August 30. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,230th case: a 28-year-old male PDL from Barangay Nazareth. He was detained at the Police Station 9 on March 2020 and was transferred to the BJMP holding area in the same month. He became a jail trustee. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,231st case: a 37-year-old male PDL from Barangay Nazareth. He is a jail trustee at the BJMP holding area. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,232nd case: a 33-year-old male PDL from Barangay Kauswagan. He is a jail trustee at the BJMP holding area. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,233rd case: a 37-year-old female PDL from Barangay Canitoan. She was detained at the Maharlika detential cell on July 23 and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 3. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,234th case: a 44-year-old female PDL from Barangay Carmen. She was detained in Carmen Police Station on September 10 and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 7. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,235th case: a 40-year-old female PDL from Barangay Camaman-an. She was detained at the Agora Police Station on September 25 and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 7. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,236th case: a 29-year-old female PDL from Barangay Kauswagan, who was detained at the Cugman Police Station on September 29. She was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 8. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,237th case: a 21-year-old female PDL from Barangay Consolacion, who was detained at the Lumbia Police Station on September 28. She was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 8.

The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office also recorded a total of 32 policemen who tested positive for Covid-19.

Of the 32 police personnel, 30 have recovered, one is active and one is under quarantine.
