20 Port of Subic clients cited

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT -- Some 20 companies doing business at the Port of Subic were recently cited by the Bureau of Customs here as top major revenue contributors to the collection campaign for the month of September.

The local revenue unit of the BOC attributed the high collection performance of the government agency to the continuous patronage of the port users to the Port of Subic.

BOC Subic revenue last month was P2.772 billion over hitting its adjusted target for the period of P1.772 billion, registering surplus of P999.753 million. However, the agency's collection record of the period last year stood at P3.107 billion sans the coronavirus pandemic.

On the other hand, Subic Port under the leadership of district collector Maritess T. Martin has to date raised P20.559 billion during the nine months of 2020. She is ably assisted by Maita Acevedo, deputy collector for assessment, and lawyer Ferdinand Leynes, deputy collector for operations. Majority of the list of big Subic importers are engaged in the importation of petroleum products and rice.

Marubeni Philippines Corp. a Japanese trading firm was the biggest contributor at P592.470 million.

The other top contributors are Insular Oil Corp., P365.105 million; PTT Philippines Corp., P342.073 million; High Glory Subic International Logistics, P138.196 million; Warbucks Industries Corp., P115.214 million; Goldenshare Commerce & Trading Inc., P111.666 million; ERA1 Petroleum Corp., P68.232 million; Ecossential Foods Corp., P65.161 million; Samahan Ng Magsasaka sa Calawitan, P40.204 million; and Sitio Caldo Multipurpose, P39.880 million.

Also in the group are Binhi Producers Cooperative, P38.730 million; Petron Corp., for the importation of bioetanol), P38.373 million; Mary Nazareth Multipurpose, P34.967 million; Balik Kapuso Multipurpose, P31.880 million; United Auctioneers Inc. P29.219 million; Gold & Perfect Corp. P27.601 million; Sucden Philippines P25.821 million; Nestle Phils., P25.402 million; PMFTC Inc., P25.136 million and Citra Metro Manila Tollway Corp., P22.694 million.

Under its adjusted target revenues which was downgraded from its original amount earlier set, Port of Subic has to raise P24.408 million up to year end December. (PR)
