THE new normal has brought everyone to enjoy the basic ways of living.

Despite the slowdown in the number of Covid-19 cases in the local community, the fact remains that there is no available vaccine to eliminate such viruses. Thus the new normal still compels families and friends to enjoy but in safe territories.

The family of Avelyn Agudon-Marañon, her husband Hanz and some of their friends camped out at Kampo Hiyang-Hiyang in Sitio Campuestohan, Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City, which was a breather to their two sons, Christian Jude and Thad, who were not able to go out for seven months due to the health risk posed by Covid-19 especially to minors.

"We had fun setting up the tent while enjoying the cool ambiance which was surrounded by mountains and greenery. We also enjoyed barbecuing some viands and marshmallows for the kids. Spending the night together in a cool place is valuable. The simplest is the more unique experience we had as a family with less worry considering that the setting is safe and one can breathe freely without worrying about the possible presence of the deadly virus. Our sons enjoyed each other running after on a landscaped lawn in the area. What an amazing experience to camp out," she said. "As a couple, we enjoyed eating out the foods we have and a small amount of beverage that made us a little tipsy."

The rain has stimulated the serenity where one can allow his dreams to drift with the tones of the raindrops.

"We brought with us a comforter because a regular bed sheet is not enough to keep us warm," she said.

Their eldest son, who used to sleep separately, was able to spend sleeping with his dad in the comfort of a camping tent.

The youngest son, Thad, also has his own choice of enjoyment swimming in a spring water pool with his friends Sophia and Rhea.

Mainly, camping out was fun. I will make sure that we go out as a family as frequently as possible as long as we can be assured of our safety, she said.
