NAILHAN ang Mindanao nga usa sa mga maayong dapit nga abunda sa natural nga rekorsos ug nindot nga mga talan-awon.
Luyo sa mga nindot nga mga daplin sa baybayon ug ang mga makadasig nga kaanyag sa kabukiran, dunay nagpahipi sab nga mamugnaong komunidad diha sa pinasahe nga rasa sa Mindanaoan ngadto sa pag-arte gamit ang mga maayong butang sa palibot.
Niining panahon nga ania ang tanan sa pandemya, ang mga artists sab nga mga Mindanaoan mimugna og mga istorya sa paglaum samtang naa sud sa mga isolation.
Uban sa temang “HOPE IN OUR ART,” ang Pilipinas Shell naghimo sa ilang 53rd National Students Art Competition (NSAC) nga nahitabo ang second leg sa Virtual Art Interact niadtong Oktubre 17, uban sa kolaborasyon sa creative collective Fringe Manila.
Ang Virtual Art Interact usa ka platform diin ang mga mamugnaon mopaambit sa ilang mga maayong ideya ug panglantaw mahitungod sa ilang propesyon alang sa mosunod nga henerasyon; diin ang nahimong pilot event niini nakapukos sa Luzon art scene, nga ang bag-uhay lamang nga forum nabutang sa spotlight ang growing community of creators sa Mindanao.
Sanglit ang NSAC naila na, ang Shell nagpapel sa dako nga tahas niini diha sa mga visual artists, illustrators, sculptors ug sa uban pang mga dunay imaginative talents sa paghulma sa nagtubong kabataan sa nasud diha sa ilang henerasyon karon.
“Through NSAC, we pledge our support to keep artists and art institutions alive. We want to amplify the youth’s voices, and continue the conversation on art’s importance,” sulti ni Sankie Simbulan, ang Country Social Performance and Investment manager sa Pilipinas Shell.
Sumpay ni Simbulan, “The ethnic and cultural diversity of Mindanao and its rich history have given birth to a young generation of artists whose voices need to spread and be heard throughout the Philippines.”
Samtang gibutyag sab ni Andrei Pamintuan ang Creative Director sa Fringe Manila ug host sa Virtual Art Interact, “This is a great opportunity to share stories from Mindanao. It’s important to be inclusive, especially for platforms like this, so that we can showcase the diversity of what’s happening in the Philippines.”
Taliwala sa mga panghitabo sa Mindanao, nailhan gihapon kini nga rehiyon sa pagkamalig-on — nga dunay mga artists nga mipadasig, mipahatag og paglaum pinaagi sa ilang mga obra nga nakita diha sa komunidad.
Pinaagi sa proyekto ni Ced Zabala uban sa Mindanao local governments, mihatag kini og lab-as nga mga panglantaw.
“At work, our goal is to recreate Mindanao’s image using art. For example, we created a campaign called ‘Zoom in Zamboanga City’ that is inspired by our rich history, nature, tourist spots, native patterns, and more,” pagpasabot ni Zabala.
Si Zabala uban sa laing pang mga kaubanang Mindaoan artists gilayong nanawagan sa pagdasig samtang ania ang nasud ug ang kalibutan sa pandemya.
“The pandemic is a challenge for everyone. People have lost jobs, families have gone hungry, and mental health is affected. As public servants and artists, our work should never stop. We have since created several campaigns that promote generosity and kindness in the community,” dugang ni Zabala.
Pagsaysay pa niya, “There are so many stories now about struggles and difficulties, both personal and in our country [Ang daming stories ngayon tungkol sa struggle]. As creatives, we use art to express our emotions and what we are going through.”
Niya pa nga ang usa sa mga papel sa artist luyo sa krisis, “We also act as historians who visually piece together this moment in time—including all the contemplation and uncertainty it holds. When we look back on this period someday, art will help us make sense of it.”
Giingon sab ni Isko Andrade, ang former contestant ug three-time winner sa NSAC, mipaambit kung paunsa niya nalatasan ang
"discouraging moments" atol ning pandemya. “Covid-19 has affected my career as an artist because of cancelled shows and exhibits, but I choose not to dwell on the negative side”.
Saysay niya, “the pandemic has given me time to focus on myself, my craft, and taught me to appreciate and find inspiration in everything—whether they’re big or small.”
Si Andrade nga usa ka Bulacan-based artist nagpaambit paunsa iyang gibati sa pagdaug atol sa NSAC competition niadtong 2014 sa iyang winning oil nga canvas piece, dunay titulong "Ipinagkakait na Kalayaan," nga maoy kapanaminan sa "triumph over adversity" nga nagtuyok ang ideya sa pagkamatay sa iyang inahan, ug ang pagbati nga usa ka produkto sa broken family. “As a young student artist from the province, I had simple dreams of finishing college and getting a normal job. I didn’t think I could ever win NSAC, but it was such a big help for me and my family. I was able to pursue my art, and I learned to dream bigger.”
Dugang ni Zabala, “Art is a great tool for healing. It’s cathartic. We can use it to give people something to hold on to as they live through the pandemic.”
Si Simbulan nagbutyag nga kini nagpahinumdom sa tanan sa mabulukon nga kagikan sa mga istorya sa pagdasig, “As Filipinos, we have a wealth of culture and creativity that can act as reservoirs of hope and fuel for economic recovery. We can all learn a thing or two from artists—how to create more with less, how to discover new perspectives in the mundane, and how to find the silver lining amid this isolation.”
