16 persons in Cagayan de Oro test positive for virus

THE Cagayan de Oro Health Office has recorded 16 persons infected with the novel coronavirus, all of whom are local cases, epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Wednesday, October 21.

This brought the total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the city to 1,294.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 16 new Covid-19 cases, four are local authorized persons outside residence (Apors) and four are close contacts of previously confirmed cases.

The profiles of the new Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro City are the following:

1,279th case: a 43-year-old female local Apor, a healthcare worker, residing in Barangay Patag. She works as a nurse attendant at the JR Borja General Hospital. Her last day of duty was on October 15. She was swabbed on October 17 and the result came out positive. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified 10 close contacts of the woman.

1,280th case: a 26-year-old female local Apor, a healthcare worker, residing in Barangay 11. She works as a respiratory therapist at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC). Her last day of exposure to her co-worker was on October 12. She was swabbed on October 15. Her last day of duty was on October 19. The result came out positive on October 20. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,281st case: a 34-year-old male resident of Barangay Lumbia. He had a fever on October 12. He went to the JR Borja General Hospital on October 17, where he was swabbed and tested positive. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified four household contacts of the man.

1,282nd case: a 30-year-old female local Apor, a healthcare worker, residing in Barangay Lumbia. She works as a nurse in a private hospital. She was exposed to her husband, the 1,271st case. Her last day of duty was on October 13.

The City Health Office identified one close contact of the woman.

1,283rd case: a 25-year-old female resident of Barangay 26, who was exposed to her co-worker, the 1,267th case. Her last day of exposure was on October 12. She had a fever on October 12 and was admitted to a private hospital on October 19. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified nine direct close contacts of the woman.

1,284th case: a 56-year-old male resident of Barangay Macabalan. He was admitted to a private hospital on October 18 due to cough, fever and chills. He had comorbidity (diabetes). He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,285th case: a 31-year-old female resident of Barangay Bugo, who works in a factory in the said barangay. She had a sore throat on October 12 and experienced loss of sense of taste and smell on October 15. She went to a private hospital on October 17. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified seven direct contacts of the woman.

1,286th case: a 53-year-old male resident of Barangay Bugo. His last day of duty was on October 7. He had a cough on October 8 and had tonsillitis on October 12. He experienced fever on October 16 and was admitted to a private hospital on October 17.

The City Health Office identified four direct household contacts of the man.

1,287th case: a 63-year-old male resident of a gated community in Barangay Balulang. He had a fever on October 16 and was admitted to a private hospital on October 18 due to loss of sense of taste. He was swabbed on October 19 and the result came out positive on October 20.

1,288th case: a 63-year-old female resident of Barangay Bugo. She had body malaise and epigastric pain on October 7. She experienced loss of appetite on October 14 and was admitted to a private hospital on October 15. She is currently at the NMMC.

1,289th case: a 26-year-old female resident of Barangay Macasandig, who was exposed to a Covid-positive non-CDO co-worker. Her last day of exposure was on October 19. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified six direct contacts of the woman.

1,290th case: a 22-year-old male, who was exposed to a Covid-positive non-CDO co-worker. His last day of exposure was on October 19. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified four direct contacts of the man.

1,291st case: a 62-year-old female resident of Barangay Kauswagan. She had comorbidities, including hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Her husband is a close contact of a confirmed case, the 1,176th case. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,292nd case: a 69-year-old female resident of Barangay Tablon. She was admitted to a private hospital on October 14. She had comorbidities, including diabetes and hypertension.

The City Health Office identified eight close contacts of the woman.

1,293rd case: a 47-year-old male resident of Barangay Lapasan. His last day of duty was on October 16. He was admitted to a private hospital on October 17 due to an on and off fever. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

1,294th case: a 41-year-old male resident of Barangay Bugo. He works at the NMMC. He had an onset of fever and colds on October 15. He is currently at the DOH isolation facility.

The City Health Office identified seven close contacts of the man.

As of October 20, Cagayan de Oro has 358 active cases, 28 of whom are admitted to the NMMC, 323 are outpatients, and seven are returning overseas Filipinos/locally stranded individuals.
