FOR the past 14 days, about 19 barangays in Bacolod City have no active coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.
Emergency Operations Center -Task Force (EOC-TF) records showed that of 61 barangays in Bacolod, 19 have no active Covid-19 cases. These are Barangays 4, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 31, 33, 36, 38 and Punta Taytay.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said these barangays should maintain their status and the other barangays should also try to catch up with these Covid-free barangays.
"This is something to celebrate, considering the efforts of the City Government in containing the pandemic for several months now," he said.
At the forefront of the fight against Covid-19 in the city is the EOC-TF, which is also under the supervision of Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF)-Visayas chief implementer Major General (retired) Mel Feliciano.
Feliciano was a member of the team deployed by the Office of the President to Cebu City at the height of the Covid-19 cases there.
EOC Executive Director and City Administrator Em Ang earlier said the intervention of the City Government is very active like the conduct of contact tracing and the extraction of Covid-19-positive patients.
She said those who turned out positive for the virus were already transferred to the city's quarantine facility with no exemptions.
As of October 20, Bacolod City has a total of 4,633 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 3,976 patients recovered, 539 are active and 118 died.
