13 detainees escape from Caloocan jail

THIRTEEN detainees of the Caloocan City Custodial Facility Unit Extension escaped before dawn Thursday, October 22, 2020, by making a hole in the wall.

Northern Police District Director Ronnie Ylagan, chief of the Northern Police District, said two of the 13 escapees had tested positive for antibodies during rapid diagnostic tests.

They were, however, found negative for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), in RT-PCR tests.

Ylagan said the detainees were found missing at around 1:50 a.m. Thursday.

He identified them as:

  • Martin Kaber Mama, 46;
  • Aries Dunacao, 28 (illegal drugs charges);
  • Reymark Balaga delos Reyes (illegal drugs charges);
  • Gerrymar Bajar Petilla, 21 (charged with alarms and scandal, and violation of the Omnibus Election Code);
  • Aldwin Jhoe Cruz Espila, 25 (charged with carnapping);
  • Mark Oliver Balarma Gamutia, 27 (charged with disobedience to a person in authority);
  • Jovel Cabrera Toledo, 27 (charged with unjust vexation and disobedience to a person in authority);
  • Raymond Fernandez Balasa, 35 (charged with theft);
  • Reynaldo Novejas Bantiling, 35 (charged with illegal possession of firearms)
  • Hudson R. Jeng, 42;
  • Norbert Bogarin Alvarez, 35;
  • Arnel Salangsang Buccat, 19; and
  • Jovel Tolledo Jr.
