THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) in the Port of Subic intercepted two containers of potential waste materials that were being transported from the Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

The two containers were among the 30 containers consigned to Bataan 2020 Inc., which were declared as American old corrugated cartons for repulping. The shipment came from the United States.

In a statement on Thursday, October 22, the BOC said “further examination of the shipment revealed prohibited waste materials that were illegally imported.”

The bureau said an inventory was being conducted to determine the volume and actual contents of the containers.

It is also conducting an investigation on the possible violation of Section 1400 of Republic Act 10863, or Customs Modernization and Tarriff Act (CMTA), and other environmental laws. (SunStar Philippines from PR)
