RIATF approves moratorium on LSI arrivals for Victorias, San Carlos

THE Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) approved on Thursday, October 22, a resolution suspending the arrival of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in the cities of Victorias and San Carlos in Negros Occidental.

Resolution 50, signed by RIATF head secretariat Christian Nagaynay, said the local government of Victorias City issued a letter last October 13 asking for a seven-day moratorium on the arrival of LSIs and returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs).

The City Government of Victorias pointed out they need to decongest, disinfect, and prepare their quarantine facilities for the new batch of incoming LSIs.

San Carlos City also followed suit by sending a letter last October 18 to the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, requesting assistance to the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) for a 14-day moratorium on the arrival of LSIs in the city.

The moratorium on arriving LSIs and ROFs for Victorias City will cover from October 23 to October 30, while San Carlos is from October 23 to November 6.

As of October 21, Victorias City has a total of 189 Covid-19 cases, 63 of which are tagged as active. The city also reports 87 suspected cases, and four fatalities.

San Carlos City, meanwhile, has 165 confirmed cases, 94 of which are still active with five fatalities.
