DPWH 7 to turn over dorms, isolation facilities

NEW healthcare facilities for treatment and isolation of Covid-19 patients will be inaugurated and turned over to their respective local government units in Cebu on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020.

The facilities, worth P294 million, were constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Visayas (DPWH 7).

The facilities cover 13 dormitories for medical workers, seven isolation facilities for patients with mild Covid-19 symptoms, and three converted isolation facilities.

These include isolation facilities situated at the Mactan Cebu International Airport and at the Hoopsdome in Lapu-Lapu City; Cebu City Quarantine Center (CCQC) in Cebu City; at the North Bus Terminal in Logarta Avenue, Mandaue

City; DPWH Regional Office 7 at the South Road Properties, Cebu City; Correctional Institution for Women, Cebu Provincial Police Office; and the Apas Evacuation Center in Cebu City.

The facilities can accomodate 208 healthcare workers and 279 patients.

The isolation facilities are equipped with a negative pressure ventilation system which blocks airborne transmission and prevents contaminated air from escaping the facility, to provide patients quality health care. /HBL / JKV
