OVER a hundred individuals were arrested by local authorities in Masantol town, Pampanga for violation of the mandatory wearing of face masks ordinance.

Masantol chief of police Captain John Carlos Ornales said a total of 120 violators were arrested from July to September of this year.

Of the total number, Ornales said only 22 were charged as of Monday, October 19, as some were only given the first warning.

"But since the start of October, immediate filing of cases against offenders is being observed as we have already enough leeway for the public to know and understand the provincial ordinance," he said.

He asked Masantoleños to observe the mandatory wearing of face masks rule as it is primarily intended to protect them from the novel coronavirus.

"The face mask is our number one shield from Covid-19 so when we ask you to wear them, it is us who will benefit so please observe and follow the law," he said.
