A TOTAL of 121 establishments, restaurants and water transport service providers were issued certificates of compliance (COC) by the Cebu Provincial Government, as of September 2020.
These establishments were able to complete the requirements needed for the opening of their tourism ventures in relation to the new normal policies brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
The COC was required by the Provincial Tourism Task Force (PTTF) as mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases to protect tourists from being infected with Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.
The PTTF has already issued COCs to canyoneering activities in Alegria and Badian; ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) adventure activities in Barili; island-hopping activities in Cordova; the Danasan Eco Adventure Park in Danao City; and Anjo World theme park in Minglanilla.
COCs were also issued for whaleshark watching activities in Oslob and the diving and island-hopping activities in Moalboal.
To secure a COC, tourism establishments must secure a certificate of authority and a provisional certificate of authority to operate from the Department of Tourism.
Just before the COC is released, the PTTF will conduct an ocular inspection to check if all the health and safety measures required by the IATF are in place.
The Province is urging local tourists to support the local tourism industry to help stakeholders recover from the effects of lockdowns that the government imposed to contain the health crisis. (ANV / JKV)
