THE PBA “bubble” has yet to pop, but it is now showing some vulnerability after the league announced that a player from Blackwater Elite has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The development was bared by league commissioner Willie Marcial, renowned physician Dr. Raul Canlas and Bases Conversion and Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Vince Dizon in a virtual press conference.
“Yung ating PBA player na may lumabas na positive result kagabi, na-isolate na. We’re asking the PBA to conduct an Antigen and RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test) for the player who tested positive,” relayed Dizon.
The player has not showed any symptoms and is now being isolated at the Athlete’s Village in Tarlac.
The player’s case is the second this week after a referee also tested positive for the dreaded virus. It was reported that the referee officiated the game between Alaska and Blackwater.
Because of this, the league announced that it is cancelling Sunday’s first game between Rain or Shine and Blackwater. However, the main game between Magnolia and Ginebra will still be played.
Also being isolated is the TNT squad since it played Blackwater on Thursday.
