When the lockdown due to Covid-19 happened in the province, Angela Aquino and her family got into the planting trend.
"My dad asked me to do something with our garden. That's when I started buying plants and pots," Aquino shared.
What started out as a past-time activity eventually turned into a business, thus, the birth of The Leaf Market PH.
At first, Aquino, along with her partner and co-owner Paolo Sazon, sold indoor plants, but later on focused on selling pots and planters. Sazon's family is into planting as well.
Since Aquino's family is into making baskets, she thought of interweaving the baskets into the pots.
"This way, a plantito or plantita can save time in looking for the right basket for his or her pots," she shared.
True enough, plantitos and plantitas often have a hard time finding the right basket for their plant pots.
Aquino started with three basket designs -- Talia, Olivia and Amelia.
The Talia has a crisscross pattern, Olivia with interlocking weaves, and Amelia with swirls.
Aquino and Sazon buy their pots from local makers in Sto. Tomas town.
"It was a way to support our local pot makers during this situation," Aquino shared.
Pots from The Leaf Market PH come in various colors squash, olive green, grey, navy, black and cream.
Aside from pots with interwoven baskets, the local store also sells planters called "The Aubrey Planters Set" and "The Julia Planters Set," plant boxes, lantern baskets, and multi-purpose baskets.

Soon, Aquino plans to introduce a collection of multi-purpose baskets in addition to her pots and planters.
The Leaf Market PH is located in Barangay Lara, City of San Fernando.
"When visiting our showroom, we encourage clients to set an appointment in advance, so we can practice social distancing and disinfection every after client," Aquino shared.
