THE local government of Masantol converted the evacuation center in Barangay Bebe Anac into an isolation facility for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) suspect patients.

Mayor Danilo Guintu and former fourth district Representative Anna York Bondoc led the blessing and inauguration of the two-story building located along the dike.

Guintu said the facility has 12 hospital-grade beds individually isolated from each other and located at the second floor.

"Individuals who were tested in our swabbing facility will temporarily be housed here while waiting for their results. If positive, they will be transferred to a government-mandated quarantine facility while those who will test negative will be sent home," he said.

The first floor, meanwhile, is dedicated for health workers who will be watching over patients who will be confined in the facility.

Guintu also said the facility is powered by solar panels that are installed at the rooftop to ensure continuous electric supply.

In case Covid-19 is finally suppressed, Guintu said the local government's investments will not go to waste as the facility will be reverted back to an evacuation center.

"We invested on quality equipment so we can use them in our evacuation centers and health centers here when Covid-19 is gone hopefully soon. We want to make sure that the people's money will not go to waste," he said.

Bondoc, for her part, lauded the efforts of the local government in fighting the spread of Covid-19, and ensuring the protection of its people.

"The establishment of isolation facilities plays a significant role in containing Covid-19 and the local government here not only established one, but also ensured that the patients will be more than comfortable," she said.
