77 healthcare workers in NMMC test positive for coronavirus

THE total number of healthcare workers in Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) who tested positive for the novel coronavirus has reached 77 as of Monday, October 26, liaison officer Dr. Bernard Rocha said.

Rocha said of the 77 healthcare workers, 39 have already recovered from Covid-19 and 38 are active cases who are currently in a stable condition and under quarantine at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

"Ang atong mga healthcare workers, most have already recovered and a good number naka-report back already in their respective duty sa atong hospital," Rocha said.

Over the weekend, Cagayan de Oro City recorded 46 new Covid-19 cases, four of whom are healthcare workers, namely the 1,435th, 1,436th, 1,443rd, and 1,469th cases.

The 1,435th case is a 69-year-old male local Authorized Person Outside Residence (Apor), a doctor, residing in Barangay Balulang. He had a fever and diarrhea last month. He had a history of travel on October 3 in Gingoog City and went back to Cagayan de Oro on October 5.

The man had anorexia on October 10 and was brought to the city isolation unit on October 21. He was swabbed on October 22 and tested positive. He is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified three direct contacts of the man.

The 1,436th case is a 38-year-old female local Apor, a barangay healthcare worker, residing in Barangay Nazareth. She was exposed to her co-worker, the 1,435th case. She had an onset of colds on October 9. She had a history of travel in Libona, Bukidnon on October 10 and went back to Cagayan de Oro on October 11.

The woman had mild cough and nasal congestion on October 12. Her last day of exposure was on October 14. She assisted a patient who was giving birth in a health center while wearing a complete PPE. She was brought to the city isolation unit on October 21. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified eight close contacts of the woman.

The 1,443rd case is a 28-year-old female local Apor, a doctor in NMMC, who was exposed to her husband, the 1,428th case. Her last day of exposure was on October 8. She had body malaise and headache on October 22, and fever on October 23. She was swabbed at the NMMC and tested positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 1,469th case is a 45-year-old female local Apor, a nursing attendant in JR Borja General Hospital, residing in Barangay Puntod. She was exposed to the 1,279th case. Her last day of duty was on October 11. Her last day of exposure was on October 12. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified 21 close contacts of the woman.

Cagayan de Oro, as of October 25, has a total confirmed Covid-19 cases of 1,480 and a total number of recoveries of 929.

The city registered 486 active cases, 21 of whom are admitted to the NMMC, 457 are outpatients, and eight are returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals.
