TWO more New People's Army (NPA) rebels belonging to the Central Negros Front-1 (CN1) surrendered to Guihulngan City Task Force Elcac on October 23.

The two were identified by the 62IB of the Philippine Army as alias Mari, chairman of Kaugma-on Guihulngan City Chapter, and alias Jomar, member of SDG Platoon, CN1, Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor.

The two surrendered to Guihulngan City Task Force Elcac headed by Mayor Carlo Jorge Reyes.

The surrender was also facilitated through the joint efforts of 62nd Infantry Battalion headed by Lieutenant Colonel Melvin Flores and the Guihulngan City Police Station with Police Lieutenant Colonel Bonifacio Tecson, chief of police.

The 62IB said the two personalities revealed that aside from the unbearable hardships and hunger, they have realized that their recruiter's promise of "change" in their lives upon joining the movement will never be true instead they were further pushed into the abyss of no hope by being directed to spread propaganda against the government and conduct atrocities against fellow Negrenses.

Inocencio Pasaporte, commander of 303rd Infantry Brigade, commended the aggressive efforts of the Guihulngan City Task Force Elcac, along with the AFP-PNP troops in the area.

He lauded the realizations of the two NPA personalities who courageously returned to the folds of the government and get a chance for a peaceful, and better life with their families longing to be with them.

The two followed their former comrades who also surrendered to authorities.
