THE Alaska Aces’ rookie big man Barkley Eboña is slowly finding his footing at the pro level and his stellar efforts last week were recognized as he was named the league’s Rookie of the Week.

The 6-foot-6 forward, who previously played for the Cebu Institute of Technology-University before making his way to Far Eastern University, broke out with averages of 17.33 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 block in three games for the Aces last week.

Eboña performances have helped Alaska bounce back from a lackluster start to the season to even up their win-loss record at 3-3. The fourth overall exploded for a career-best 24 points on a near-perfect 10-of-11 shooting in Alaska’s 120-82 rout of Blackwater, whose coach Nash Racela was Eboña’s college coach.

Even in Alaska’s 88-92 loss against reigning champion San Miguel, Eboña also played well as he finished with 18 points on 9-of-11 clip, five rebounds, a steal and a block in just 21 minutes of play. (JNP)
