BFAR 7 supports coalition of fisherfolk organizations in Negros Oriental

THE Bureau of Fishiries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7-Negros Oriental Provincial Fishery Office has supported the alliance of fisherfolk associations and the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils in the southern portion of Negros Oriental.

Negros Oriental Provinvial Fishery Office head Dr. Florencia Mepaña graced the alliance meeting serving as its resource speaker in Sta. Catalina town on Oct. 13, 2020, the BFAR 7 reported on its Facebook page.

The event was attended by representatives from the United States Agency for International Development Fish Right.

The participating associations and councils were from the city of Bayawan and municipalities of Sta. Catalina, Zamboanguita, Siaton and Basay.

At the same event, the Fisheries Scholarship program provincial focal person Ravin Romo oriented the fisherfolks on the educational scholarship to which their children may apply for. The submission of application ended on Oct. 26.
