Vice-mayor urges barangays to form TF Disiplina team

BACOLOD City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran urged all the barangays to form their own Task Force (TF) Disiplina team to arrest and penalize violators of health protocols in the campaign against coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Familiaran said Tuesday, October 27, that the barangays should have their own Task Force Disiplina team to arrest the violators who are not wearing face masks and not following the physical distancing.

"The Task Force Disiplina will monitor their barangays to ensure that their residents are complying with the health protocols. We have 61 barangays and our team in the city is not enough to ensure the compliance of our constituents," he said.

He added that based on the city ordinance authored by Councilor Archie Baribar on the mandatory use of face masks, violators will be fined P200 and P300 for non-residence of Bacolod.

Those who fail to pay the penalty will be required to do an eight hours community service in the barangay where he resides.

Since July, hundreds of violators were arrested in Bacolod City. Bacolod residents were fined P200 while non-residents P300.

Familiaran said the barangay officials were also doing their job in the fight against Covid-19 and they need only to formalize their team to concentrate on the implementation of the mandatory use of face masks and the practice of social distancing.

"They can use their volunteers or barangay tanods to monitor those who are not wearing face masks and not following the social distancing," he said.

He said they need the cooperation of the barangay officials to reduce the Covid-19 cases in the city.
