THE Naris Singwangcha Foundation along with the Philippine Boxing Promoters and Managers Association (PBPMA) doled out much-needed provisions to boxers and coaches in Cebu in the time of Covid-19 pandemic.

Around 70 boxers and coaches received five kilos of rice, a tray of eggs and groceries each last Oct. 25.

“This is a huge help to the boxers, especially right now that there is a pandemic. Everybody is having a hard time. Good thing somebody is kind-hearted and gave us provisions, especially to boss Brico (Santig) because he was the one who reached out to Singwangcha so that the boxers and coaches would be given the goods,” former world title challenger AJ “Bazooka” Banal told SunStar Cebu.

Banal and former world champion Joma Gamboa were Santig’s contacts here in Cebu and organized the giving of goods to the different boxers and coaches from the Omega Boxing Gym, RWS Boxing Gym, Phil-Aust Boxing Gym, Big Yellow Boxing Gym and Flores Boxing Gym.

“The boxers and trainers are very happy with what we received,” said Flores Boxing Gym head coach Brix Flores.

The program of Naris Singwangcha and PBPMA started in September in Luzon will hopefully reach boxers from Mindanao by December.

Singwangcha is a Thai businessman and huge supporter of boxing. He has been supporting Filipino boxers for years and has been funding boxing events here in the country.

Santig, on the other hand, is an international promoter, matchmaker and owner of the Highland Boxing Gym in La Trinidad, Benguet.
