Fire razes house of BFP official, neighbor

AN OFFICIAL of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and a neighbor lost their homes in a fire incident that hit a village in Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur provinces, the police said.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the fire incident occurred Monday at Block 2, Alta Tiera in Napolan village, Pagadian City.

Duco said the fire of still undetermined origin broke out around 5:45 p.m. Monday at the residence of Inspector Glen Macarat, 55, of the Pagadian City Fire Station.

The fire engulfed the residence of Macarat and escalated to a house made of light materials and owned by Rolando Polinar, 40.

The fire, which razed the house of Macarat and Polinar, was placed under control around 6:30 p.m. and declared fire out around 7 p.m. Monday.

Duco said the estimated cost of damage to properties was around P2.5 million, but no one was injured. (SunStar Zamboanga)
