Villar remains richest senator, De Lima is poorest

SENATOR Cynthia Villar, wife of former Senate president and real estate tycoon Manuel Villar, remained the richest senator with a net worth of P3.81 billion in 2019, according to a list released by the Senate on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, a boxing champion, followed closely with a net worth of P3.17 billion.

Rounding up the top five richest are: Ralph Recto, P567.44 million; Juan Miguel Zubiri, P203.66 million; and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., P176.36 million.

Other senators in the top 10 in terms of 2019 net worth are: Juan Edgardo Angara, P142.21 million; Franklin Drilon, P102.26 million; Grace Poe Llamanzares, P97.63 million; Sherwin Gatchalian, P95.4 million; and Pia Cayetano, P82.77 million.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III was in the 11th spot with a net worth of P77.77 million.

Detained Senator Leila de Lima had the lowest net worth of P8.32 million.

Three other senators with net worth of less than P20 million are: Risa Hontiveros Baraquel, P16 million; former presidential aide Christopher “Bong” Go, P18.39 million; and Francis Pangilinan, P19.97 million.
