DOH reports over 1,700 new coronavirus cases

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, October 29, 2020, confirmed an additional 1,761 cases of coronavirus infection, bringing the total to 376,935.

In its case bulletin at 4 p.m. Thursday, DOH also reported 740 new recoveries and 33 additional deaths.

The number of people who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) went up to 329,848 or 87.5 percent of the total case count.

The death toll increased to 7,147 and the case fatality rate rose to 1.9 percent.

The number of active cases also increased to 39,940, or 10.6 percent of the total.

Among the new cases were 85 from Quezon City, 74 from Rizal, 73 from Caloocan City, 70 from Davao City and 69 from Laguna.

A total of 24,652 tests to detect Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, were conducted on October 28. Of this number, 1,613 yielded positive results. (MVI/SunStar Philippines)
