Cops net 3 drug suspects in Eastern Visayas

POLICE arrested three suspected drug pushers, including two street-level individuals (SLIs), in separate buy-bust operations in Eastern Visayas.

Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), led by Major Ariel Nuñez, along with operatives from Maasin City Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), arrested 29-year-old Leo Yutina in Maasin City on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Purchased from Yutina were four sachets containing suspected shabu.

Confiscated from his possession and control were six sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated value of P6,000 and buy-bust money.

In Alangalang, Leyte, joint police operatives also arrested Antonio Rosaldo, habal-habal driver and listed as SLI, on Thursday.

Purchased from the suspect was one sachet containing suspected shabu, while confiscated from his possession and control were nine sachets containing suspected shabu and P500 used as buy-bust money.

The suspected illegal drugs have an estimated worth of P5,000, according to the police.

The anti-drug operation was conducted by Leyte Police Provincial Police-PDEU led by Captain Dennis Gatela and Alangalang Municipal Police Station led by Captain Arturo Salvacion Jr., acting chief of police, in coordination with PDEA in the region.

On October 28, personnel from Northern Samar Police Provincial Office-PDEU, led by Captain Jim Balase, PDEA and Victoria Municipal Police arrested 38-year-old Fritz Tan, an identified SLI.

Purchased from the Tan were three sachets containing suspected shabu.

Police also confiscated from his possession and control three sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money and a motorcycle.

The confiscated pieces of drug evidence have an estimated weight of 0.20 grams and market value of P3,000.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
