Benguet breaches 1,000 Covid cases

CASES of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Benguet Province have breached the 1,000-mark, as of Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Benguet also recorded its 13th Covid-related death from Itogon, the current hotspot of the virus infection in the province.

As of Wednesday, the province has already logged 1,026 confirmed cases with 528 active, 485 recoveries and 13 deaths.

The recent mortality is a 59-year-old male from Barangay Poblacion in Itogon with pre-existing comorbidity.

He is the 4th Covid-19 confirmed death case in the town.

On October 28, 42 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the province from the towns of La Trinidad, Itogon and Tuba and one case from Kabayan.

La Trinidad has 397 total cases with 105 active, while Itogon has 259 total cases with 199 active. Tuba has 224 total confirmed cases with 182 active.

The provincial government met with doctors from the Provincial Health Office, Benguet General Hospital and different district hospitals and department heads to discuss the issues and concerns on the surge of Covid-19 cases in the province.

A total of three isolation units are being eyed to house Covid-19 patients.

The Municipal Health Office in Itogon is concentrating on the contact tracing and corresponding swab tests of close contacts.

Processing of travel documents was also suspended in the town until such time the situation becomes more stable and after contact tracing and corresponding swab tests have been completed.
