Angeles City records 1,016 Covid-19 cases

THE City Government of Angeles City has reported five new cases of Covid-19, as of Thursday, October 29, 2020.

This brought the total number of coronavirus cases in the city to 1,016.

Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr. said 800 patients recovered, while active cases are at 166.

The City Health Office said a total of 50 patients died because of the virus.

The mayor reminded residents to observe health protocols being implemented by the local government.

"Hindi pa po tapos ang pandemya. Iwasan po muna natin ang paglabas ng ating mga tahanan kung hindi naman kinakailangan," Lazatin said.

The local chief executive earlier ordered the temporary closure of public and private cemeteries in the city during the observance of All Saints' Day.

This move is in line with the directive of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to prevent the gathering of people in memorial parks and cemeteries.

The temporary closure of cemeteries started on November 30 and will last until November 2.

Lazatin said this is far from the traditional observance of All Saints' Day, but appealed to his constituents to pray and light candles for their departed loved ones at home.

"While the City Government respects the Filipino tradition of remembering our departed loved ones, mass gatherings of people in these particular days pose danger and may spread the virus due to lack of social distancing," he added.
