BJMP in Cagayan de Oro to schedule transfer of PDLs

THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has written the Cagayan de Oro Police Office to come up with a schedule of transfer of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) to avoid congestion of their detention cells and minimize Covid-19 infection.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno on Friday, October 30, said the City Government will help the BJMP reschedule the transfers since the inmates there don't have individual cells.

"We have come up with a decision nga the PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) and the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) will abide by the suggestion of the BJMP nga every first and second day, and 16th and 17th day of the month ang pagpasulod," Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said.

Nery added that in case of the city police, there's a compromise of once a week transfer of inmates because their precinct cells are nearly full to capacity.

"So trial and error sa mi, among tan-awon ang dagan. In the meantime, nag-come up mi og once a week ang pagpasulod from the detention cells going to BJMP and among tan-awon karon kon unsay dagan ana for the few days. From there, we will adjust," Nery said.
