9 Oro jail inmates infected with coronavirus, total at 128

NINE persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in Cagayan de Oro Jail have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of Covid-positive inmates in the city to 128, City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Friday, October 30.

According to Retuya, of the 128 inmates, 115 are males and 13 are females.

The nine new Covid-positive PDLs were among the 29 new cases added on October 30 in Cagayan de Oro.

Retuya said a total of 468 jail inmates were swabbed, 443 of whom are males and 25 are females. Tested negative are 328 male inmates and 12 female inmates.

The profiles of the nine new Covid-19 positive inmates are the following:

1,590th case: a 41-year-old male PDL from Barangay Macabalan. He was detained at Police Station 9 during the first week of October 2019 and was transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Barangay Lumbia in the same month. He was admitted in September 2020 to a private hospital.

The man was swabbed on October 27 and the result came out positive. He is currently in the city jail's infirmary and is scheduled for dialysis.

1,591st case: a 50-year-old male PDL from Barangay Gusa. He was also a dialysis patient. He had a fever on October 17. He was swabbed on October 27 and the result came out positive. He is currently in the BJMP's infirmary.

1,592nd case: a 27-year-old female PDL from Barangay Puntod. She was detained on September 25 at Macabalan Police Station. She was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 7. She was swabbed on October 15 and the result came out negative on October 17. She was swabbed again on October 26 and the result came out positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,593rd case: a 31-year-old female PDL from Barangay Lapasan. She was detained on October 11 in the Maharlika Police Station and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area. She was swabbed on October 15 and tested negative. She was swabbed again on October 26 and the result came out positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,594th case: a 49-year-old female PDL from Barangay Macanhan. She was detained in the city drug enforcement agency and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area. She was swabbed on October 15 and tested negative. She was swabbed again on October 26 and the result came out positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,595th case: a 42-year-old female PDL from Barangay Macabalan. She was detained at the Macabalan Police Station on September 11 and was transferred to the BJMP jail. She was swabbed on October 15 and tested negative. She was swabbed again on October 26 and the result came out positive on October 28. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,596th case: a 23-year-old female PDL from Barangay Carmen. She was detained at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on September 19 and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area. She was swabbed on October 15 and tested negative. She was swabbed again on October 26 and the result came out positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,597th case: a 22-year-old female PDL from Barangay 35. She was detained at the Bulua Police Station on September 3 and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 7. She was swabbed on October 15 and tested negative. She was swabbed again on October 26 and the result came out positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

1,598th case: a 30-year-old female PDL from Barangay 39. She was detained at the Maharlika Police Station on August 4 and was transferred to the BJMP female holding area on October 7. She was swabbed on October 15 and tested negative. She was swabbed again on October 26 and the result came out positive. She is currently at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in the city jail.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded a total of 1,618 Covid-19 cases, 357 of whom are returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) and 1,261 are local cases.

The city has 557 active cases, 30 of whom are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, 513 are outpatients and 14 are ROFs/LSIs.

Cagayan de Oro also registered a total of 991 recoveries. The total number of deaths is now at 70.
