'No work, no pay' on Undas

THE "no work, no pay" policy shall be in effect when the country observes the All Saints' and Souls' Days Sunday (November 1) and Monday (November 2).

In its Labor Advisory 29-2020, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued the pay rules to be implemented during the two Special Non-Working Days.

"If the employee did not work, the 'no work, no pay' principle shall apply, unless there is a favorable company policy practice or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment on a special day," said DOLE.

For work done during the special non-working days, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her basic wage on the first eight hours of work, and an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate on said days for overtime work.

For work done during the special non-working days that also fall on his/her rest days, he/she shall be paid an additional 50 percent of his/her basic wage on the first eight hours of work, and an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate on said days for overtime work.

Under Proclamation 845 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte on November 15, 2019, November 1 (All Saints' Day) and November 2 (All Souls' Day) have been declared as Special Non-Working Days. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
