THE local government unit (LGU) in Magalang town, Pampanga has canceled the distribution of the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) due to Typhoon Rolly, which is expected to hit the country on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

The UCT distribution was rescheduled from October 31 to November 14, 2020, the local government said.

UCT is a social mitigation program under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (Train) Law that seeks to provide cash grants to poor households.

The Municipal Health Office, meanwhile, reported two new cases of Covid-19, as of October 30.

This brought the total number of coronavirus cases in the town to 88.

The first patient, who was named M87, is a 28-year-old woman and health worker residing in Barangay San Nicolas 2.

She is set to be transferred to a government facility. Her closed contacts underwent swab testing and were placed under quarantine.

The second patient or M88 is a 68-year-old woman from Barangay Santa Cruz. She is now confined to a government facility outside the municipality. Three of her family members were placed under home quarantine.

Mayor Romy Pecson said 69 of the 88 Covid-19 patients in the town had recovered.

The local government said there are 12 active cases and seven Covid-19 deaths, as of October 30.
