A "PINK" gamecock failed to subdue its red opponent in a hack fight or "tigbakay" on Monday, Nov. 2, in the town of Consolacion.

However, both gamecocks shared the same fate as they were brought to the police station together with 24 cockfighting aficionados after a police raid.

Joint elements of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PUI) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office and Consolacion Police Office arrested 24 individuals for having the hack fight in Consolacion in violation of PD 1602 and Covid-19 quarantine guidelines.

Police also seized the red and the "pink" gamecocks and the P2,000 gambling money.

PUI Chief Lt. Col. Randy Korret also clarified that the "pink" gamecock is not really pink-colored but white and was only dyed by the owner.

Korret said they received reports from residents of the ongoing hack fight in the area, the reason they responded and conducted the raid.

According to Korret that gamblers thought the hack fight was allowed on All Souls Day, but cockfighting is not allowed in this time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Police arrested Sylwin Torreon Auguis, Roland Manulat Demecillo, Falconero Rillon Dinopol, Reymon Policios Gumapac, Genaro Tayo Bontol, Randy Donato Necanor, Nestor T. Gerira, Judet Dosdos Monsanto, Joel Melendres Bugtay, Roel Solar Judilla, Gary Mangigo Montero, Vince Niño Tauto-an Canangga, Mario Augtiampo Fabillar, Ernesto Margulas Taneo, Rodrigo Aransado Nayingue, Danilo Jehan Isok, Reymond Pinote Nayingue, Gerry Monsanto Cawas, Walter Javier Baladad, Marlou Bacolod Abello, Jundie John Temosa Capoy, Archie Sarni Tautoan, Obeth Ramos Cabugnason and one minor.
