Covid-19 cases slow down in Itogon

COVID-19 cases in Itogon, Benguet has slowed down after zero cases were reported on November 3, the latest data showed.

The local government unit, however, said there are still 427 active cases in the town.

It will be the first time the town recorded zero cases since the surge saturated on October 27 with seven cases.

The peak was recorded on November 1 with 159 cases, while the second-highest was recorded on October 29 with 66.

As of 6 p.m. of November 3, there are 514 total confirmed cases in the town, 82 recoveries and four deaths.

Data from the Municipal Health Office (MHO) has shown Virac had the highest cases with 273. There are also 104 cases in Poblacion and 21 in Ampucao, seven in Tuding, six each in Tinongdan and Ucab, five in Loacan, four in Dalupirip. Gumatdang has zero active and confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The active cases are confined to the Itogon Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), Itogon Suyoc Resources Inc. facility, Rural Health Services, Virac TTMF, Benguet Corp Facility, Provincial TTMF, Itogon District Hospital and private hospitals.

“Unfortunately, there are confirmed asymptomatic cases that remain self-isolated since all isolation facilities are full. Rest assured that they are regularly monitored by MHO. Isolation is currently undertaken through our collaborative efforts with the Regional Task Force on Covid-19,” the LGU added.

Data shows the surge of positive cases occurred only in two barangay which was immediately placed under lockdown. The LGU added the rise in the confirmed cases for the two barangays was attributed to the mass testing conducted, while the seven barangays remain under control.

As of Wednesday, Barangay Poblacion lifted the lockdowns in Sitios Purok II and Supang. Sitios Suyo, Beda and Lucbuban in Poblacion remain on lockdown.

Also on lockdown are Sitios Letbek, Anuvang, Bagueng in Barangay Tinongdan; Acupan, Balatoc, Batuang, PC Barracks, Kiangan Village, Keymens Hill in Barangay Virac and Barangay Ampucao.
