EASTERN Visayas observed a generally peaceful celebration of this year’s All Saints' and All Souls' Days on November 1-2, the Police Regional Office (PRO) said Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

“We laud the efforts of our PNP personnel and force multipliers in manning the areas of convergence, but we also thank the vigilance and cooperation extended by the public,” said Brigadier General Ronaldo De Jesus, police regional director.

He said a total of 1,817 police personnel were deployed to man the burial grounds, seaports, terminals and airports in the region from October 29 to November 4.

Following the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Engaging Infectious Diseases, the police regional command also implemented the closure of all private and public cemeteries, memorial parks and columbaries to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

PRO-Eastern Visayas also deployed quick response teams, critical and disaster incident management operational task groups to ensure public safety during the event. (SunStar Philippines)
