Cariño: Baguio Connections 124

LAST week, about Converge, their massive IPO, their disconnecting with local partner Beneco, and resulting issues.

This week, yours truly was contacted by Converge. As a result, our Internet speed at home was finally restored to 25 Mbps, so thank you, Converge. One down, one more issue to go.

At the same time, yours truly likewise informed Converge while our line was a-fixing, that slow speed and no connection was an issue in many parts of Camp Seven and even city-wide, as gleaned from friends and various posts on Camp Seven Facebook forum pages, the once Converge-Beneco page, and others.

For those who would like to address their issues with Converge, their office is no longer in the Beneco office in DPS Compound. I was informed that it is actually in the building that houses the Travelite Hotel in front of City Hall. As for those mobile numbers given out as the contact numbers of Converge Baguio, they are up in the air, honestly. Because, I have just now verified that they are Beneco numbers, still.

As per Beneco as of this writing (Friday), all Beneco subscribers have been informed by email of the contact numbers of Converge. So subscribers should check out their emails. If your Internet line is working.

Another item to be thankful for this week is that super-typhoon Rolly spared Baguio and the environs. Thank you God and please take in the palm of your hand all of the areas of our country that were hit by typhoon Rolly. And likewise, keep our country safe from typhoon Siony. Let her pass gently, gently.

A disturbance of a different sort has hit the USA. One, for a country that is largely used to knowing winners of an election on election night itself, their 2020 election this week is as of this writing, some 72 hours after their polls closed, undecided. Two, the counting is taking days, this because -- it's being said -- just sooo many votes were sent in by mail and thus, the counting is slow. State officials have been given air time to explain why, and they cite the high number of votes by mail, the time and care they take to verify authenticity, and just that the job cannot and should not be rushed. Because each vote must be counted, and carefully.

It certainly escapes no one that the vaunted American form of democracy is under a microscope this week, including that their electoral college system needs fixing. It is, too, the USA and several other countries that presume to send "observation teams" to elections the world over, to validate them, ostensibly.

As for the 2020 presidential outcome itself, it looks like Biden is, uh, trending to victory. This time, the Florida (Bush-Gore 2000) is Pennsylvania. If Biden wins it, that's it pansit, as we say in this country. If he wins more of the razor-sharp races in Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, his leadership will serve as the clear mandate every politician prays for.

I've got a pizza bet against a Trumper who thinks that the US electoral college will go for Trump, anyway and whatever the popular vote is in each state. I think I will win the bet.
