Pandemic proposals

THE ongoing pandemic has put a lot of things on hold: classes, travel, business, among others — but not love. Over the past few months, we’ve seen many celebrities and social media personalities put a ring on it.

Not even a global health crisis can stop true love, right? Here are four couples who got engaged in the middle of the pandemic:

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani

The two singers met in 2015 as co-coaches on “The Voice” and soon started dating, following Shelton’s divorce with Miranda Lambert. After five years of dating, they finally decided to take the next step. When Dua Lipa guest hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live in August and interviewed Stefani, who she collaborated on a song with, she mistakenly referred to Shelton as her husband. Honest mistake or mystic prediction?

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz

David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son announced his engagement with actress Nicola Peltz (“Bates Motel,” “Transformers”) back in July, just six months after the two became Instagram official. Although Beckham and Peltz, 21 and 25, respectively, have reportedly decided to postpone their big day to 2022, they have apparently already started to build a life together and moved to a new house.

Vern Enciso and Ben Lim

Vern, a local blogger/vlogger who is most known as one-half of the Enciso sisters with her sibling Verniece, has been with Cebuano businessman Ben Lim for almost seven years now. They broke the big news just a couple of months ago. Originally from Manila, Enciso spent the entirety of the quarantine with Lim in Cebu. With the engagement, it might be safe to say she’s staying here for good.
