THE Volleyball Association of Negros Island (VANI) Inc., has replaced Negros Volleyball Federation (NVF) Inc., as the leading volleyball federation in the province after securing a Certificate of Incorporation from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last July of this year.

Despite the successful implementation of volleyball programs in the province, NVF failed to secure its SEC Registration in carrying its legal identity. For years, the NVF has indeed helped a lot in the development of the fast-growing sport of volleyball in the province. It provided countless opportunities to some budding athletes where they had developed and improved their talents and skills in playing volleyball. It also organized numerous developmental leagues, age-group tournaments, beach volleyball leagues, club tournaments, and even facilitated some professional club leagues in the Philippines.

With VANI recognized by the Negros Occidental Provincial Sports Office and has made its courtesy call to Gov. Eugenio “Bong” Lacson Jr. last month, the new volleyball organization will cover not only Negros Occidental but Negros Oriental as well.

Gov. Lacson has expressed his gratitude as he welcomed the association as an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with the provincial sports office in conducting and organizing various sports development programs in the entire Negros Occidental community.

VANI president Carmela Gamboa - an FIVB Coach Level 1 holder, said that the association vowed to be steadfast in its commitment to the development and progress of the sport. Se added that they will continue what the NVF has started and will never stop seeing action in making volleyball the number one team sport in the entire Negros Island.

Joining Gamboa is Janus Dumaran (FIVB International Referee 1 Candidate) as Vice President, Ma. Cristina Tabuada (National Referee) as Secretary, Edgar Espares (National Referee) as Treasurer, Jelly Perez as Auditor, Victor Porcel (FIVB Coach Level 1) as PIO, Ruel Panes (National Referee) as Chairman for the Games and Management Committee, and Jimmy Dequilla (National Referee) as the Chairman for the Youth and Coaches Development Committee.
