A BAGOEÑO and her world-class and seasoned artist husband from San Francisco have shown their fondness for the arts, as they are introducing the so-called "Art for the Senses" to the locals.

Jane and Will Harper are launching the "Art for the Senses" in their Willworld Gallerie located at Manville Royale in Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.

Set to open on November 14, it will showcase a collection of fine and contemporary art, world music, and even edible art.

Will Harper, a film director and music fusion artist from Oprah, Gina Lopez's "GDiaries," Alanis Morissette, Lenny Kravitz, Disney, Warner Bros., and MTV, brings his diversity, creative encounters, and his cast of artists, chefs, and musicians to you all under one roof.

He and his innovative team are opening their latest artistic installation right here in the art capital of the Philippines -- Bacolod, the next mega-island metropolitan art attraction in the Philippines.

"You will find from the Philippines' most daring creators -- Rodney Martinez, Nenu Alvarado, and Ivan Acuna, eclectic art for your eyes, from top vocalists and artists -- chilled pop, island reggae, stylish hip-hop, smooth R&B, jungle grooves, urban lo-fi, and world music for your ears, and from international chef sensations -- a fusion of Filipino/Italian/Japanese blends, Filipino/Arabic organic cuisine, and downhome French-Creole vegetarian and vegan favorites for your palette," he said.

"Our mission and intention are to collaborate with the Bacolod City art community and other creatives to educate, empower, enrich, support, and provide direction and consultation to young, upcoming artists in the region to excel and enter into the professional and international realm, while simultaneously giving the general public a rich and in-depth showcase of art for the senses," he added.

Will Harper has been blessed with an innate trait called "highly sensitivity" prevalent to only 20% of the population.

It is an outstanding trait wherein one is a deep thinker, empathetic to his surroundings and other human beings, over stimulated easily, and sensitive to subtleties, common to most artists.

"I have been an artist all my life; I have a degree in creative arts interdisciplinary from San Francisco State University. I have stayed in the arts all my life. Today, I am looking back and smiling at what I have achieved and feel even more blessed. My career as a film director and musician has taken me worldwide and into many people's lives from Oprah, Magic Johnson, Gina Lopez to President Nelson Mandela. I was even fortunate enough to meet your honorable President Duterte on several occasions. Art has been my ticket and key to gaining knowledge, understating humanity, and seeking freedom," Harper said.

Today, he has a new revelation about art appreciation as it refers to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the universal and timeless qualities characterizing art's works.

It invokes an analysis of the works based on acknowledged elements of composition and design principles through which enjoyment of the humanities is enhanced.

"My enjoyment now is to give back to the art community. When I speak of the art community, I mean in all aspects of art. We are doing a movement that embraces art for all senses, i.e., music, edible art, performance art, moving images, contemporary art, and fine art. We believe it is a necessary element in life to have this outlet nurtured, exposed, and passed on to other generations no matter what their color, race, or gender are. My wife and I are here to do this task and share the wealth of information with the community by giving back knowledge, networking, and consultation on sharing the arts from the Philippines with the world. We want to be a gateway, a portal onto the global highway, and set a trajectory for the success of young and old alike to share their gifts of Art and be appreciated for their contribution," he said.
