POLICE Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr., newly installed National Capital Region Police (NCRPO) chief, vowed to further strengthen the NCRPO’s campaign against illegal drugs and internal cleansing program as he assumed the top police post in Metro Manila on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Lanao replaced General Debold Sinas, who was promoted as the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP). Sinas assumed his post on Tuesday, November 10.

Danao, a former police chief in President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown Davao City, said his priority aside from the campaign against illegal drugs is the campaign against erring policemen.

He said he will immediately implement his “Oplan Litis.”

"This has been my program since day one that I became commander at my own level. Oplan Litis means litisin ang tiwalag at scalawag na miyembro ng hanay ng ating kauplisan. I will be very strict on that," Danao said.

"I expect all members of the Philippine National Police, especially here in NCRPO, would tow the line. Nakikiusap ako sa inyo, let us put a stop especially on the anti-illegal drugs. Kung mayroon mang paisa-isa pa sa inyo na medyo nawawalay ng landas, ngayon pa lang sinasabihan ko na kayo, the door is always open for you to leave," he added.

Danao said he will also strengthen police visibility on the streets to ensure a safer and more peaceful community.

"Let us flood the streets of Metro Manila with policemen in order to ensure the safety and security of our constituents," Danao said.

"We can only do that if we will properly account our personnel," he added.

Danao is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Sambisig class of 1991.

He is among the so-called Davao boys, or those who served in the Davao region during President Rodrigo Duterte’s stint there as a local government official. The Davao boys include former PNP chief now Senator Ronald dela Rosa. (SunStar Philippines)
