Sungduan: Lepanto outreach

THE Rotary Club of Metro Baguio continues to be active in providing help and assistance to communities in need amid these trying times.

Recently, the group headed by president Jerry Chan personally went to Lepanto Elementary School in Mankayan, Benguet, and donated supplies of personal protective equipment to protect the teachers and students from exposure to the Covid-19 virus.

The school with more than 700 students also received audio-visual equipment such as a 55-inch television and coupon bond including computer ink needed for the printing and production of modules for the students with the implementation of distance learning.

This aims to help improve the basic education and literacy program of the school which is one of the priority services of Rotary.

Some teachers and underprivileged pupils also received an early Christmas gift of a big box of branded clothes which was made possible with the partnership of RCMB and Jennifer Cariño, a Baguio girl from Quezon Hill but now based in the United States.

“Our goal is to improve the educational and healthy environment for the underprivileged students and that includes Lepanto Elementary School,” Chan stressed.

RCMB intends to go back to the said school to put up a hand wash facility, another priority project which is still in line with the Rotary service thrust on disease prevention and treatment.

The Rotary services also focus on Peace and conflict prevention/resolution, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, economic and community development, and environment.

May these important causes of RCMB continue to help more people in need especially this time of the pandemic.
