Bacolod EOC padlocks water park

THE composite team of the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Thursday, November 12, 2020, closed the Caribbean Water Park and Resotel in Goldenfield Commercial Complex, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City for allegedly violating guidelines under the general community quarantine (GCQ) amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

City Administrator Em Ang said the EOC was informed that the resort was hosting a children’s party amid quarantine restrictions.

She said under GCQ, resorts are not allowed to operate.

During the inspection, alcoholic beverages and children below 15 were seen in the area.

The Permits and Licensing Division also found out that the resort has no business permit.

Sunstar Bacolod tried to reach the resort management for comment, but its personnel on duty refused to give a statement.

Ang urged parents not to bring their children to crowded areas since they are vulnerable to the virus.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran earlier said under GCQ, beach resorts are not allowed to operate in Bacolod City.

This, after some beach resorts in Barangay Pta. Taytay allegedly violated guidelines under the GCQ.

Familiaran said beach resorts including hotels can only operate if they have a Certification of Authority to Operate from the Department of Tourism.

“We are still under the GCQ and all resorts are still not allowed to operate, unlike in other areas like in Negros Occidental, which is placed under modified GCQ and its beach resorts already open for tourists,” he said.

He added resort owners should be responsible and should follow the health protocols.
