METRO Mandaue has recently achieved the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification from the Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) Philippines for its fresh section.
“The GMP and HACCP certification are given to those who consistently uphold health and food safety and sanitation in their operations,” said SGS Certification and Business Enhancement marketing manager Neli Dablio. “We are pleased to know that another store, Metro Mandaue, has met the standards for certification as it puts the safety of its customers a priority.”
GMP and HACCP are two separate food management systems, both designed to guarantee the safety of food. These systems are based on the Recommended International Code of Practice General Principles of Food Hygiene by Codex Alimentarius Commission.
It is the organization responsible for all matters regarding the implementation of Food Standards Programme jointly undertaken by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
