Bacolod tourism office told to submit comprehensive plan

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting the City Tourism Office to submit a comprehensive plan for the recovery of the tourism industry in the city for the year 2021.

The resolution was authored by Councilor Israel Salanga, chairperson of the City Council committee on tourism.

Salanga said since March 2020, the city has been placed under different community quarantine statuses, which halted air and sea travel to and from the city.

He said the lack of tourists in the city also caused the closure of most of the tourism accommodations, establishments and destinations.

Salanga said the tourism industry of the city is one of the top income generators of the city’s economy.

“Having comprehensive plan for the recovery of the tourism industry of Bacolod is significant so that the City Council will know the necessary legislation it will undertake to the help the industry,” Salanga said.
